The origin story of the first 2-way custom-fit earpiece is a story as potent as any other creation myth; and not unlike the epic myths of the Norse, it lends itself to heavy metal. When Jerry Harvey was travelling with Van Halen as their monitor engineer during their tour of ‘95-’95, he was tasked with a challenge. The noise of the stage monitors was making it difficult for the band to communicate with each other, and was also causing them ear damage. Partly inspired by pacemaker tech and Japanese microtechnology, Jerry solved the problem by creating a compact in-ear speaker system for drummer Alex Van Halen. Since then, Jerry has continued to be an innovator in the field of IEM technology.
